| Using robots for
handling materials is an essential component of today's automated manufacturing systems.
With intelitek's Robotics and Materials Handling tekLINKs students discover workcell
fundamentals and robotic applications by working with a variety of actual and simulated
robotic workcell applications. With the Robotics and Materials Handling tekLINKs, students use the SCORBASE for Windows robotics control software package, which provides an intuitive tool for robot programming and operation. The tekLINKs are based on the SCORBOT-ER 4pc robotic system, which includes accessories such as a conveyor belt, rotary table, parts feeder and parts bin, as well as I/O devices such as an experiments table, photoelectric sensor and microswitches. In Robotics and Materials Handling Technology 1 tekLINK, students work on-line with SCORBASE software and industrial-based equipment to develop and write robot programs, and manipulate and handle assorted objects. tekLINK activities challenge students to design solutions for industrial robotic applications with emphasis on real industrial concerns, such as recording accurate positions, optimizing programming and increasing productivity. |
The curriculum for each tekLINK incorporates SCANS and National Skills Standards in a 15-lesson format designed to bridge the transition between school and the workplace. The tekLINKs are supported by optional tekSURF multimedia enhancements which guide students through the activities and tekSCOPE lab/classroom management software, which provides instructors with total classroom control.
