CAM spectraCAM Turning tekLINK

Computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software is an important link in the manufacturing process. It forms the connection between computer aided drafting (CAD) designs and CNC manufacturing by incorporating the machining codes within the CAD file.

intelitek's spectraCAM Turning Technology tekLINK introduces students to the fundamentals of CAM programs and their use in industry. The tekLINK is based on the spectraCAM software, which converts CAD drawings into numerical control (NC) files that can be used to produce parts on a CNC turning center. The Windows 95 version of the spectraCAM software features an integrated CAD drawing package that allows a seamless and easy working environment and includes a graphic tool path simulation package for immediate part proofing.

tekLINK activities focus on turning-related cutting operations such as roughing, facing, grooving, threading, cut-off procedures and code generation. The spectraCAM Turning Technology tekLINK offers a total solution for students to learn to operate CAM software for programming a CNC Turning Center.

tekLINK curriculum incorporates SCANS and National Skills Standards in a 15-lesson format designed to bridge the transition between school and the workplace.

The tekLINK is supported by an optional tekSURF multimedia curriculum enhancement which guides students through the activities, and tekSCOPE lab/classroom management software which provides instructors with total classroom control.
