The Virtual Reality Module

Educational Service Unit #3 has been a leader in the exploration, development and use of virtual reality in K-12 education since 1995. The Virtual Reality Module was developed by a team of Industrial Technology teachers and other specialists. It provides an initial exposure to desktop virtual reality that is both informative and vocationally significant. Hundreds of students have already enjoyed learning about the creation of virtual worlds through the module's hands on activities. Students are highly motivated by the concept of virtual reality and teachers report full utilization of the module

The module is available for Macintosh, Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 operating system. Each version has customized instructional materials. The worlds created with this software are operating system independent.

How to build and modify a virtual environment using the software package Virtus WalkThrough Pro. The step by step instructions in both the videos and printed curriculum enable students of different learning styles to be successful. The Module provides simple ways to enhance the realism of the worlds and also offers challenging opportunities for the most advanced individuals.

 

 

Students are provided additional research materials demonstrating real world applications of virtual reality.

 

 

Minimum System Requirements

Windows 3.1 or Windows 95, 486 DX2x66, 16 MB of ram, VGA display, CD-Rom and 20MD hard drive space.

 

Macintosh 7.1 OS or higher, Power PC, 16MB of ram, CD-Rom and 20 MB of hard drive space.
